This is a tutorial on how to read MQB dashboard data to add keys using Xhorse VVDI Key Tool Plus. Before using this feature, make sure you’ve activated Xhorse VAG MQB License and the IMMO database on Key Tool Plus has been upgraded to the latest version.
Preparation
Read VW MQB NEC35xx Data
Now we’ll need to read the chip data on the PCB board.
Immo programming >> VW >> Select by type >> MQB instrument immo system >> Instrument – MQB48(VDO/JCI-NEC35xx lock) >> Start programming
Before we read data, please read the disclaimer carefully, make sure you’ve fully understood and agreed with the contents and responsibilities.
OK >> OK
Programmer reads files >> Read NEC35xx chip
Check the wiring diagrams carefully and locate the one that is same to the dashboard MCU. Follow the on-screen instructions and finish the operation.
Lifting Pin from CPU Instructions
Apply some scaling power onto the pin we’ll lift later.
Now we’ve finished the pin lifting.
Then we follow the wiring diagram and solder the MCU cable. Connect VVDI Key Tool Plus with the module via DB15 cable.
Read >> Continue
The whole process is gonna take 3-5 minutes.
Reading successfully and now save the data.
The data can be used for generating dealer key or key learning.
MQB Key Adding
Generate dealer key-Load immo data >> Open immo data file we just saved >> VW >> Prepare normal dealer key >> OK >> Yes >> Add key – you should have a working key
Place the original working key into Key Tool Plus, press “OK”.
Next, just follow the general steps to add key.
Here is a guide to renew/virgin a second-hand engine computer for Mercedes W203 C270 CDI, before replacing the old one.
ECU type: BOSCH EDC15C6 CR2.
Device used to renew: Xhorse vvdi key tool plus
Procedure:
Connect vvdi key tool plus with EDC15C6 ECU. You need to find pinout by yourself.
Read ECU data
Save ori. ECU data
Select Renew function
Get erase password successfully
Renew ECU success.
Read ECU data again.
ECU is personalized and deactivated.
Here is the instruction to read VAG MQB 35XX locked immo data and program key with xhorse vvdi key tool plus. It is similar to vvdi2+ vvdi prog (check procedure). But vvdi key tool plus will read immo data and decode by itself.
Procedure:
Go to Immo programming->VW->Select by type-> Instrument-MQB48 (VDO/JCI-NEC35xx locked)-> Start programming
Then select Read Immo data->Use the programmer to read data directly
Check wiring diagram in tablet or check wiring here
Xhorse VVDI Prog V5.2.5 Adds VAG MQB48 NEC35XX
Here we use lift pin method.
Then read immo data and save.
NOTE: The saved immo data is still encrypted. So if you go to Generate Dealer Key-Load immo data, then upload this immo data, xhorse key tool plus will give error “The file is not supported by current model”
Go to Read Immo data->Load the read programmer file
Select and upload immo data read above
Calculating/decrypting immo data in progress
Read immo data successfully. Save immo data. Now you can generate dealer key and learn key with the immo data.
Select Generate dealer key-Load immo data
Upload immo data (the decrypted long file)
Check key information and press OK to continue generate dealer key, then learn key.

YOU DO NOT NEED THE SHIM FOR THE Xhorse DOLPHIN XP-005L.
The new M5 clamp allows you to do it without it.
Cut By Bitting>TOY40>TOY 40 Remark: Emergency Key (One Sided Key)
You have to type the Bitting acquired by code. Choose between 4, 6 & 8 bitting
You can also do it under “Universal Duplication”, no issues at all
If you break probes when using the universal key dulpication function, it is usually user fault.
The probe works by electrical signal. when the metal probe touched the metal key an electrical signal is passed from probe to key, and the probe stops, if the probe does not stop and breaks then the electrical signal did NOT transfer from probe to key. CLEAN YOUR KEYS WITH A WIRE BRUSH!!!
You can put anything metal in the clamp and the probe will stop when it touches it. UNLESS ITS DIRTY!!
so clean the key with a wire brush every single time you decode a key, period!! A $2 wire brush will save u time, money, aggravation.
You need to Clean the probe too. they tend to get a little corrosion forming from moisture. so take care of the machine and you won’t have any issues.
Problem:
Tested on a JCI D70F3529 polo cluster today using VVDI key tool plus with VAG MQB license activated.
It was able to read the immo data ok which took about 4.5 mins and then it sent the data off and it got processed online which took about a minute.
Everything looked good but when you load the file (which is about 3.2meg) I get an error saying “this file is not supported by current module”.
Solution:
If had this error, better post serial number and take a video of decode your dump, so xhorse engineer will check how you doing the calculation.
Mostly this is because wrong file is loaded.

Key Learn :
1 – when file is read – it will save a file such as MQB-LOCK(xxxxxx),this is programmer file.
2- then procedure will upload the programmer file to server
3- few min later device dowload immo file such as MQB-IMMO-XXXXXX.bin and save
4- when make dealer key, load this IMMO data file
Reset KM to 0:
1- load file (flash)
2- then input the km , if you already read the programmer file ,you load the MQB-LOCK(XXXX) ,then procedure upload this file to server
3- download file MQB-SERVICE-FILE-XXXXXX.bin
4- Device automaticly jump into write file procedure
5- if programmer write failed, you can choose the last option, load the MQB-SERVICE-FILE-XXXX.bin, write again.
Clone immo/ clone cluster :1- Select Modyfi immo data option
2- Select immo file and MQB-LOCK(XXXXX) programmer file
3- upload these two files to server
4- Server return file MQB-SERVICE-FILE-XXXX.bin
5- write back new file to cluster
