Here we share user working experience on 2011 Mercedes Vito (W639) All Keys Lost using xhorse vvdi mb tool and power adapter on bench.
‘I spent over 2 hours trying to perform data acquisition for all keys lost on a 2011 Mercedes Vito (W639) on bench.
Below is the diagram I followed (which is correct) I used VVDI MB power adapter, but no matter what I did the data acquisition would fail @ 80%ish, every time I would retry it would go a little bit past 80% or a little bit below 80%. After speaking to a few skilled locksmiths I confirmed I was doing everything correctly.
I then noticed that the lens part of the EIS (the IR sensor) was really grubby and had a lot of dirt/grime on it. I cleaned it using isopropyl alcohol and some kitchen towel (there is a photo of the dirt that came off the lens) then the data acquisition worked straight away, it also worked very quickly in comparison to the previous attempts. I don’t know if anyone has had this issue before but I will be cleaning all the EIS IR lenses from here on out. Hope it helps.’
Problem:
In repairing Mercedes Benz W164 EIS I found that there are two different boards from 2006-2008. Two different boards between 2006-2008 (see images).
I can extract eeprom and flash using Xhorse VVDI Prog from the ST12 08/S switch. However, the 01/S is not listed with VVDI Prog. Does anyone know if you can get the eeprom from this board? Is there way to to get password from ezs via IR AKL? which tool?
Solution:
That’s the Famous Amazona EIS. The Amazona EIS is not listed in VVDI Prog. You won’t be able to use VVDI Prog to pull eeprom data from the Amazonas EIS.
VVDIprog can do Motorola MCU, not Nec processor.
Only VVDI MB Tool.
W164 has 2 types, Motorolla based and NEC based. The very early W164 models have motorola which you can read by external programmer like vvdi, smok, rosfar etc. Then there is EIS with NEC procesor not motorola, cannot be read with those programmers.
Only motorolla bassed eis can be decoded. nec based eis has locked/ unreadable processor with city name mask i.e. amazonas, sydney etc. best solution for this is to replace eis and make ecu virgin then personalize and activate ecu with new ( used) eis installed.
vvdi mb can now find akl password.
Here is some more info with part numbers:
1st version of these old W164 EZS with the 2 plugs far apart 2005 -> 2006 had Motorola MCU inside. These have part numbers: 164 545 05 08 and 164 545 07 08
Then from 2007 -> 2009 these old W164 EZS with the 2 plugs far apart have an NEC MCU inside. These have part numbers: 164 545 09 08, 164 545 10 08, 164 545 11 08, 164 545 13 08
From 2009+ These W164 used a smaller EZS with the 2 plugs close together, these EZS are supported by most tools for AKL and have part numbers: 164 545 15 08, 164 545 16 08, 164 905 xx xx
Problem:
My mb power adapter is working fine with vvdi key tool plus. But when connected with vvdi mb tool (12V 1.5a), it says MB Power Adapter Response Error. Any solution?
Solution:
Key tool plus MB power adapter cannot be used with VVDI MB. They use different mb power adapters for fast password calculation.

Problem:
When trying to program key with xhorse vvdi mb tool, it failed me and said error 3 product status is incorrect. Any clue?
Solution:
The error indicated the vvdi mb is locked. This machine was sold in China during the promotion period.
Don’t buy used vvdi mb from unknown resources. In this case, need to contact Chinese owner to buy points from xhorse to unlock device.
Users abroad don’t use points system.
Problem:
My xhorse vvdi mb tool gave me failed error 3 when during data acquisition procedure. Error image attached. Any solution?
Here is the clue.
The SSID has successfully calculated the password in the last 12 hours. Use “Query result” function to get password and then write key.
