Xhorse Condor II or Dolphin II Which is better for Household Keys?

Entry question:

Looking to buy my first horse key cutting machine mainly for auto and household key duplication. Should I go for the Dolphin XP005L or the Condor II? Any recommendations?

As for household key cutting, xhorse dolphin I and dolphin II will not cut house key by bitting. You need to write the bitting yourself.

Dolphin will duplicate only.

Dolphin will cut household keys via Universal Key Duplication only if you have a working key.

Condor Xc mini plus 2 will cut them by code. It is the only xhorse machine has the option to cut house keys by code.

The Condor II machine allows you to use custom bitting directly on the machine. You also need the M4 clamp. Once you learn to create and use custom bitting, the machine will cut extremely accurately, usually within a thousandth of an inch.

What household keys does it in the database?

It has a lot of key types in the 100s for house keys.
Kwikset KW1, KW10, Schlage SC1, SC4, & Y1 etc.

You can check household key types in the menu.

Generally, Dolphin is a better option for van. If you want to go with Condor you can buy a battery/converter kit that comes with 12v van and wall outlet.

I like my condor mini plus ii with the battery conversion. I charge it from the 12v outlet and it lasts for 20-30 keys depending. I also have the battery powered condor duplicator that also charges from the 12v car port. The Condor ii works great, the cover protects from flying debris, and it is controllable using the screen or key tool max or cellphone app.

How to Decode HU162T-9 by Xhorse Dolphin XP005L

Today I’m gonna show how to decode a HU162T 9-cuts key with Xhorse Dolphin II machine. The process may be the same with the Dolphin I XP005, you just use a phone instead of tablet screen.

Procedure

Cut by bitting >> Search HU162T >> HU162T-9

Dolphin XP005L tells to use M5 clamp side B, tip align 3rd align.

One thing to notice on the screen: there’s a little notch on one side.

If you hold the key up to the screen, we got the notch on top and we’re going to rotate it. This is how it needs to go in the M5 clamp. If you do it the other way, the machine will give an error. It’s not going to work.

Install the key blank onto M5 clamp B side.

Press “Decode key”.

Dolphin II machine will go through the process of decoding the key.

Just wait for it…

Decode key complete.

As we can see, the A axis have been calculated: 342455321

Let’s see B axis, it’s already filled in 324, which is correct.

Then if we hit C axis, it’s already filled in 231.

So you don’t have to decode all 3 sides, you just got to do the side with notch facing the correct direction. Xhorse Dolphin will decode the entire key bitting codes.

Xhorse Dolphin XP005L No M3 Clamp Cutting Setting?

Question:

I would like to know how to duplicate a sx9 key with Xhorse Dolphin II.
I can’t find the M3 clamp in the machine menu.

Answer:

Don’t need to choose M3 clamp option in settings.

Direct replace M3 clamp when cutting sx9 key (or other tibbe keys)

How to Enable Xhorse Dolphin II Developer Mode?

 If your Xhorse dolphin xp005l (dolphin ii) key cutting machine does not bring new updates and whenever you update it stucks on screen, you may need to enter developer mode to update firmware.

Here is the guide to enter developer mode.

Go to System

Press the question mark icon on the right top of the screen

Press the QR code

Press Yes to clear all data and enter Developer Mode (factory mode).

Update firmware in Developer mode.

Then switch to normal mode to update firmware again.

It should be fine.

How to Solve Xhorse Dolphin XP005L Decode Error Code 2?

 Problem:

I did the first installation but my xhorse dolphin ii key cutter doesn’t decode the keys. Fiat Idea SIP22 blank.

Solution:

You didn’t put the key in the clamp correctly.

Key needs to sit higher in clamp on top level.

Re-adjust the key in the m5 clamp.

The shoulder of the blade is your stop point at the jaw.

This is how you must place the key.
