How to use VVDI Prog to Read Kessy 93C86 In Circuit?

Some people are having hard time with 93c86 in circuit, and even problems with it out of circuit on adapter, especially on early siemens since no diagram in xhorse vvdi prog for soldering wires to board only continental.

Usually vvdi prog failed to read all the all the 93C86 under ST and other manufacturers. Here’s the tip to do kessy modules 93C86 Touareg/A8/Porsche in circuit with vvdi-prog if failing to read all the all the 93C86 under ST and other manufacturers.
For the continental you can always solder the wires following diagram and never have problem but for Siemens there’s no diagram so have to go straight to chip.

You have to chop the 6 and 7 pins on the clip off and read as microchip 93C/LC/AA86A remember to bridge the crystal as well.

This is a Siemens VDO showing pictures of, and that the continental you would just follow diagram in vvdiprog on soldering wires straight to board to read that style.

Read N20 ISN with VVDI Prog and DME Cable

How-to: Read ISN From ECU BMW N20/ N13 with Xhorse VVDI Prog and MOE Cable without soldering.
The MOE BMW DME OBD ISN Cloning Cable comes with multiple adapters B38 – N13 – N20 – N52 – N55 – MSV90
To use with the VVDIPROG programmer

Pinout BCM2 AUDI A5 70F3380 for vvdi prog

Here the pinout to read this bcm2 of Audi A5 70F3380 in xhorse vvdi prog programmer.

Make sure you choose correct MCU. (click to enlarge images)

I read one of these a few days ago. Don’t remove any components from the board and the connection is same as picture. The board does look slightly different from vvdi picture. I think all useful data will be inside the 95320.

Vvdi prog not have SPI, only UART, other programmers have.
Good luck!

VVDI Prog ,, Xprog and Hextag User Feedback

Let’s have a look at why most prefer Xhorse VVDI Prog to Xprog 5.55 / Hextag.

@ user0086
Xprog 5.55 has trouble reading many chips and will break CAS.

@ brutten87
I only have experience with FRM repairs. First tried XPROG clone. I think it was 5.50 version. What a nightmare. Wouldn’t work. Tried a lot of things to get it working. After a while I decided to go and buy a Orange5 clone. Works like a charm. Did +- 20 FRM repairs at this point. All of them repaired with success…

@ mik325tds
I have a cloned Xprog and did work on FRM and cluster EEPROM. I can confirm that it has many troubles with reading EEproms correctly. Always need several reads until you get finally matching files. I flashed the firmware between v5.55 v5.51 and a 6.x version. The CAS eeprom reads were much more stable than the FRM reads for some reason. The good news is that the writes are almost always good.
But yes, you are in for a lot of pain with a cloned Xprog. Do the invest now for a better option to save you time and headaches in the future. Good tools are worth their money.

@ Matthew53:
VVDI prog is expensive for you? I suppose it’s the best balance between quality and price. Unless, you take 10$ for a standard job, then yes, it’s expensive.

@ Lpapp
Just buy VVDI Pro and enjoy it.
P.S. Take software from server, run it and see what is supported.
I bought from here: http://www.vvdishop.com

@ MichFuentes
I’m looking for VVDI PROG from xHorse and I like this tool, I think this tool is more better than XPROG and the original XPROG is around 850€ and original xHorse is around 430€

A friend of mine have used UPA and don’t like it because it is very limited comparated with XPROG.
I can repair FRM file I have specific software for this.

What about Hextag?
@ bmwbmw said: if you are lazy ( but is little expensive) buy hextag and not need to do anything to repair frm just click repair button and thats all,not need to find dump lose alot of time to repair…..

@ willisodhiambo said:  Hextag is the real deal but expensive.

Conclusion:
VVDI prog is the best balance between quality and price, compare Xprog and Hextag.
